On June 1, the city of Kielce, Poland, hosted a highly competitive European Triathlon Cup — contested in an exciting semifinal/final format. The men’s field featured 120 athletes, including Ukraine’s national team leader Vitalii Vorontsov.
Athletes were divided into four men’s semifinals. The format left little room for error: only the top seven from each semifinal advanced to the final, along with the next two fastest athletes overall. It was in the final where the top 30 athletes would battle for podium spots and valuable World Triathlon Ranking points.
For the rest of the field, the competition ended after the semifinals — but a top-20 finish outside of the final still earned ranking points, making the battle for the top-50 crucial for many athletes.
Competing in the fourth semifinal, Vorontsov crossed the line 16th. In the combined overall standings, he finished 78th, just 43 seconds shy of the 50th-place cutoff for points.
This event marked Vorontsov’s fifth international appearance of the 2024 season. Earlier this year, the Ukrainian standout scored World Triathlon Ranking points at:
✅ World Cup Liévin (France) — season opener
✅ World Championships in E-Triathlon (London)
✅ World Cup Chengdu (China)
✅ Asian Cup Lianyungang (China)
Vitalii Vorontsov remains Ukraine’s top-ranked triathlete on the global stage, continuing to represent the country with consistency and determination across international events.
