Monte Gordo: Ukrainians in the points and fighting for ranking positions

The Europe Triathlon Cup in Monte Gordo (Portugal) continued the European racing block following Quarteira, once again attracting a competitive international field. At the end of the race, the top 50 finishers in both men’s and women’s events secured valuable updates to the World and European rankings.
Ukraine was represented by Vitalii Vorontsov, Daryna Moskalenko, Eva Soroka, and junior athlete Dana Soroka.

Vorontsov exited the swim 42 seconds behind the leaders, joining the main chase group for the bike leg. A strong run — the 20th fastest split of the day — allowed him to move up the standings and finish 35th, earning 21 World Ranking points and maintaining his position in the third hundred of the rankings.

In the women’s race, Moskalenko, Dana Soroka, and Eva Soroka all found themselves in the chase groups after the swim. Moskalenko delivered an impressive 8th fastest bike split, while Eva Soroka gained positions through a solid run performance.

Between the two European Cup events, Ukrainian athletes also competed in Antalya at the opening triathlon race of the 2026 season.
Ivan Shevchenko claimed victory in the men’s race, while Fedir Bezlepkin and Mariia Ivashchenko won in the youth categories. Podium finishes were also secured by Zakhar Tsivkovskyi, Stanislav Krylov, and Leia Bezlepkina.
