From October 10 to 13, the village of Bojani in the Chernivtsi region hosted the Open Ukrainian Triathlon (Duathlon) Championships, bringing together elite, junior, and youth athletes from across the country. Competitors tackled a challenging format — a 5 km run, a 20 km bike, and a final 2.5 km run on the opening day, followed by the relay races on day two.

Among the elite men, Serhii Kostenko of Zaporizhzhia led the pack into transition after a blistering 16:05 opening 5 km, just 12 seconds ahead of Zakhar Tsivkovskyi (Donetsk) and Yehor Fokov (Dnipro). Valentyn Mariievskyi (Zaporizhzhia) followed closely, maintaining podium hopes. Kostenko and Tsivkovskyi held their advantage through the bike, building a minute’s gap over the chasers. Kostenko claimed the national duathlon title, Tsivkovskyi earned silver — just days after his international victory in Ruse, Bulgaria — and Mariievskyi completed the podium. Arsen Adamov (Poltava) produced a strong bike split to finish fourth ahead of Fokov. Among the U23 athletes, Yehor Fokov took the win, with Shevchenko and Nesvat completing the podium.

In the elite women’s race, the favorites didn’t disappoint. Kseniia Levkovska (Donetsk) and Margaryta Menshykova (Donetsk) battled for gold on the final run, with Levkovska crowned Ukrainian Duathlon Champion 2025. Sofiia Bondarenko (Poltava) rounded out the podium after conceding time on the bike. The top five also featured Daria Berezhna (Cherkasy) and Maryna Sokolova (Zaporizhzhia). Among finishers were Polina Nabatnykova (Cherkasy), Kira Ahafonova (Donetsk), and Meriam Sadihova (Zhytomyr).

In the junior division, Tsivkovskyi and Nabatnykova triumphed, with Ahafonova, Sadihova, Adamov, and Harmatii on the podium.

The Youth Group A races came down to the wire: Hlib Yakubets (Donetsk) edged Matvii Malysh (Dnipro) by a mere tenth of a second, while Anna Korotiaieva (Cherkasy) claimed the girls’ win after favorites Maria Ivashchenko (Poltava) and Kateryna Kyrylovych (Zhytomyr) withdrew.

In Group B, Amina Marchenko and Rostyslav Siheiev (Cherkasy) were victorious. Podium spots went to Artur Blazhko (Poltava), Ihor Kyrylovych (Zhytomyr), Arina Hryban, and Oleksandra Boronina (Zhytomyr). Poltava’s Artem Momot was forced to retire on the bike.

Poltava-1 rounded out the top five.
