On June 21, Kyiv’s picturesque Obolonsky Island transformed into the epicenter of Ukrainian multisport as it hosted the Ukrainian Triathlon Aquathlon Championship over the standard distance — 1 km swim and 5 km run.

In the men’s elite race, Dnipro’s Dmytro Malyar struck gold with a blistering performance on the run (16:44) that proved unbeatable. Despite exiting the water in fourth position (14:10), Malyar made up an 11-second gap and surged into the lead with a commanding final time of 31:45. The silver medal went to Yehor Fokov of Dnipro, the top U23 athlete of the day, who dominated the swim (13:59) and held strong to finish in 32:18. Bronze was claimed by junior standout Maksym Usanin from Cherkasy, who came from the middle of the pack with a strong run to finish in 33:01. Rounding out the top five were Maksym Nesvat (Cherkasy) and Kyiv’s own Serhii Badiak.

In the women’s race, it was complete domination by Dana Soroka from Lviv. Unmatched in both disciplines, she led from start to finish and claimed overall victory in style. A member of the girls’ “A” age group, Soroka not only won her category but also topped the overall women’s standings. The battle for silver was contested between Margaryta Menshykova and Sofiia Bondarenko, both from Poltava. With a 15-second advantage after the swim, Menshykova pulled away even further on the run to secure silver. Bondarenko — the fastest U23 female — crossed the line for bronze. The top five also included Karina Yevtushenko from Dnipro and Kateryna Kyrylovych from Zhytomyr.

In the U23 division, the champions were Yehor Fokov (Dnipro) and Sofiia Bondarenko (Poltava). Podium finishes also went to Maksym Nesvat (Cherkasy) and Yurii Tiutiunnyk (Poltava) in the men’s race, and to Aha Mariia (Dnipro) and Tetyana Raeva (Kyiv region) among the women.

In the Junior category, the title went to Maksym Usanin (Cherkasy), with Vladyslav Mykytenko and Dmytro Kasianenko — both from Poltava — completing the podium.

The Youth 16-17 group saw Stanislav Krylov (Donetsk) and Dana Soroka (Lviv) take the wins. Podium finishers included Matvii Malysh (Dnipro) and Ivan Zhyvotkov (Cherkasy) among the boys, and Kateryna Kyrylovych and Sofiia Bahinska — both from Zhytomyr — among the girls.
