From April 24 to 27, 2025, the city of Zhytomyr hosted the Ukrainian Indoor Triathlon Championships. The race format included 0.3 km of swimming, 8.0 km of cycling, and 2.0 km of running, with the eight best individual results contributing to the team standings.

More than a hundred athletes took part in the triathlon competitions in Zhytomyr!
Men’s Individual Race: Oleksii Astafiev-Kulish completed the 300-meter swim in 3 minutes 4 seconds. Serhii Kostenko, Serhii Badyak, and Vitalii Vorontsov all clocked under 3 minutes 20 seconds, with another 16 athletes finishing the swim in less than 3 minutes 30 seconds.

On the 8 km bike course, seven athletes completed the distance in under 12 minutes, averaging 40 km/h. The fastest splits were posted by Vitalii Vorontsov (11:05) and Serhii Badyak (11:06). These two contenders battled for victory during the run. Vorontsov clocked an impressive 2:46/km pace, securing the win, while Badyak finished second, trailing by 40 seconds — a double triumph for Kyiv.

Bronze went to Ivan Shevchenko from Donetsk, the top U23 finisher, with strong splits: 1:08 swimming pace, 41.86 km/h cycling, and 2:51/km running pace.

Women’s Individual Race: Dana Soroka from Lviv posted the fastest swim among women, being the only competitor to go under 3 minutes 30 seconds. Ten more women completed the swim under 4 minutes.

The key drama unfolded on the bike course, where Sofiya Pryyma (Lviv) dominated, the only athlete to maintain an average speed above 40 km/h. Donetsk’s Margaryta Menshykova, who finished second, lost nearly a minute to the leader.

During the run, Sofiya Pryyma maintained her advantage and claimed victory in Zhytomyr. In the battle for the remaining podium spots, Dana Soroka delivered the fastest women’s run split (sub-3:30/km pace), securing the bronze medal overall, while Menshykova held onto silver. Ksenia Levkovska (Donetsk) finished in fourth place.
