As tradition dictates, the Cherkasy region once again took center stage for the Ukrainian National Triathlon (Aquathlon) Sprint Championships, held from August 1 to 3. The event crowned champions across all age brackets — from seasoned elites, U23 and juniors, to youth categories A through E. On the final day, the spotlight turned to the mixed 2×2 relay, where athletes in categories C and D competed in a fast-paced 1×1 format.
Kostenko Steals the Show
Among the 45 male participants, it was Lviv’s Markiyan Harmatii who set the tempo in the water. Hot on his heels were Serhii Kostenko (Zaporizhzhia), Maksym Nesvat (Cherkasy), and Arsen Adamov (Poltava). But it was Kostenko who surged ahead on the run, crossing the line to be crowned Ukraine’s sprint triathlon champion. Just 15 seconds behind the leading pack, Dmytro Maliar (Dnipropetrovsk) made a blistering final push to claim silver. Among the U23 athletes, Maksym Nesvat stood out, finishing with bronze overall. Rounding out the top five were Harmatii and Dnipro’s Yehor Fokov.
Soroka Dominates
In the women’s event, there was no match for Lviv’s Dana Soroka, who claimed a commanding double victory in both aquathlon disciplines. The podium was completed by her sister, Eva Soroka, and Poltava’s Sofiia Bondarenko. Also making waves were Maria Ivashchenko (Poltava) and Adele Shmanova (Odesa), both finishing in the top five.
U23 & Junior
Maksym Nesvat (Cherkasy) and Sofiia Bondarenko (Poltava) stood tall in the U23 division, holding off strong contenders like Yehor Fokov (Dnipro), Yurii Tiutiunnyk (Poltava), Daria Berezhna (Cherkasy), and Mariia Aga Abdel Naser (Dnipro).
In the junior ranks, Arsen Adamov (Poltava) and Eva Soroka (Lviv) clinched gold, followed closely by Maksym Usanin (Cherkasy), Vladyslav Mykytenko (Poltava), Anastasiia Snesar (Cherkasy), and Daryna Horb (Poltava).

In Youth A, Lviv celebrated double gold through Harmatii and Soroka. Matvii Malysh (Dnipro) and Ivan Zhyvotkov (Cherkasy) chased hard for podium spots, alongside Maria Ivashchenko (Poltava) and Adele Shmanova (Odesa).
Youth B honors went to Amina Marchenko (Cherkasy) and Ihor Kyrylovych (Zhytomyr). Runners-up included Daria Zadera and Polina Taran (Cherkasy), with Artur Blazhko and Artem Momot (Poltava) also reaching the podium.
In Youth C, Oleksandr Lebedko and Sofiia Nesvat (both from Cherkasy) earned top honors, while Rostyslav Mykytenko (Poltava), Lev Konovalov (Odesa), Oleksandra Poddubna (Odesa), and Yaroslava Hulii (Zakarpattia) secured medal finishes.
Category D was a clean sweep for Odesa — Myron Istomin and Alisa Bohdanova taking gold. They were joined on the podium by Dominik Panteleiev, Platon Alekseev (both Odesa), Halyna Kokhan (Lviv), and Margaryta Sviatokum (Odesa).
Among the youngest athletes in Category E, Yakiv Dondov (Odesa) and Yelyzaveta Honcharenko (Zhytomyr) claimed first place, with Myron Andrushchenko and Nikita Kostiuk (Sumy), as well as Diana Zaloha and Mariia Dusheiko (Cherkasy), earning silver and bronze. Results

2×2 Mixed Relays
On the following day, 29 teams battled it out in the 2×2 mixed relay — each comprising one female and one male athlete, alternating legs: woman-man-woman-man. Each athlete raced aquathlon twice in this demanding format.
The youth duo from Lviv — Dana Soroka and Markiyan Harmatii — proved unstoppable. Second and third places went to Eva Soroka and Roman Nizhniov (Lviv), and Sofiia Bondarenko with Arsen Adamov (Poltava). Rounding out the top five were Marina Sokolova and Serhii Kostenko (Zaporizhzhia), and Daria Berezhna with Maksym Nesvat (Cherkasy).

In Youth A relays, Soroka and Harmatii once again struck gold. Amina Marchenko and Ivan Zhyvotkov (Cherkasy), and Adele Shmanova with Mykola Domotsii (Odesa) filled out the podium.
Youth B champions were Oleksandra Boronina and Ihor Kyrylovych (Zhytomyr), with strong showings from Daria Zadera and Yevhenii Cherednichenko (Cherkasy), and Arina Hryban with Yaroslav Yunusov (Zhytomyr).
